The ASSA Project - Revolution in Motion - concluded Sukhishvili’s New York program on January 18 at Brooklyn Monarch, following the ensemble’s Carnegie Hall debut. Presented by Emolas Corporation, the independently produced, ticketed event sold out, welcoming over 1,000 attendees.
Developed as a continuation of the Carnegie Hall program, ASSA presented Sukhishvili in a different format and at a different venue. The evening opened with a set by Kiyoshi, shifting the concert hall setting to a contemporary performance environment. The program included new choreographic material, updated staging elements, and a structure tailored to the space.
While preserving the ensemble’s discipline and rhythmic precision, ASSA introduced contemporary elements suited to a club venue in Williamsburg. The aim was to place Georgian choreographic tradition within a new context while maintaining its core artistic identity.
After the performance, Jino Dolini continued the evening with a DJ set, extending the event into a late-night format. ASSA demonstrated strong audience interest and showed that Georgian dance can be presented successfully beyond traditional concert stages.
