Founded in 1945 by Iliko Sukhishvili and Nino Ramishvili, the Georgian National Ballet “Sukhishvili” is the first professional state dance ensemble in Georgia and one of the most acclaimed performing arts companies in the world. For nearly eight decades, the ensemble has preserved, developed, and presented Georgian folk choreography on leading international stages, including the Royal Albert Hall, the Metropolitan Opera, Madison Square Garden, and Teatro alla Scala, where it became the first folklore company ever invited to perform.
Today, the ensemble is led by the third generation of the Sukhishvili family - Nino Sukhishvili, granddaughter of the founders, serves as General Director and CEO, and Iliko Sukhishvili Jr., grandson of the founders, as Artistic Director and Chief Choreographer. Over the course of its history, Sukhishvili has completed more than 500 international tours, performing across five continents and in more than 90 countries, holding over 10,000 concerts attended by upwards of 50 million people worldwide.
On January 17, 2026, for the first time in its 80-year history, Sukhishvili will perform at Carnegie Hall, one of the world’s most prestigious concert stages. This historic debut represents not only a milestone for the ensemble, but also a landmark moment for Georgian culture on the international stage - bringing the country’s centuries-old dance heritage to the heart of New York City.
The event is organized and produced by Emolas Corporation, a U.S.-based cultural management and production company that specializes in presenting international performing arts programs. Emolas is responsible for the full creative and production coordination of Sukhishvili’s New York events.
Together, Sukhishvili and Emolas Corporation are shaping a cultural moment that connects tradition and modernity, honoring the legacy of Georgian art while introducing it to a new generation of audiences in the United States.
